About: Our Staff
Mrs. Anderson has been in the field of education for over 15 years. She was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, later relocated to Huntsville, Alabama, where she attended Alabama A&M University. She earned her Bachelors (2005) and Master's Degree (2008) in Elementary Education. She relocated to the Atlanta Metro area in 2008 and obtained her Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction (2012). She has taught grades 1-6 as either a general classroom, special education, EIP, or ESOL teacher. Her dedication to the field of education led her to start Camp Success Academy during the summer of 2015. You can still find her teaching in GCPS in multiple capacities while maintaining her position as visionary and director of Camp Success Academy.
Mrs. Edwards is one one of two directors at Camp
Success Academy. She has an Associate's Degree in Business Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management. She enjoys assisting children, parents, staff, and our management team. She's known for her kind spirit, bright smile, and willingness to ensure all of our families feel welcomed. She's always willing to assist and offer a helping hand to anyone in need. . She's been a substitute teacher in Gwinnett County for over 12 years, and continues working in this role while maintaining her position at Camp Success. Look for her at our front desk, or hear her voice as she follows up with most inquiries and new registrations.
Ms. Melidor has been working with Gwinnett County since 2006. Although she has a Bachelor Degree in Business, she enjoys working with young children. One of her favorite things about her job is watching kids learning something new. She is a lover of the performing arts. In her spare time, you can find her at the theater enjoying dance performances, concerts, or just hanging out with friends and family. Camp Success has allowed her to have the opportunity to learn new methods that inspire kids to achieve greatness. Overall, Ms. Melidor loves what she does, and she cannot wait to interact with your little ones.
Ms. Mayers is one of the first grade teachers. Prior to joining the Camp Success team, she lived in California, where she graduated high school. This is also where her interest in child care and early childhood education originated. As a junior and senior at Crescent Valley High School, she was a babysitter and interning at an elementary school for children with special needs. Even as she was growing up in Elizabeth, New Jersey, her love for teaching and nurturing was there, as she constantly worked with her father's Sunday school teachers at his church. By 2020, Ms. Mayers plans to graduate Georgia Gwinnett College with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She hopes to one day have a school of her own so that she may provide the future generation of children a safe place to engage in learning that will impact them for a lifetime, in the educational, social, and psychological contexts. The children of this world are the future leaders and Ms. Mayers wants to support and guide them on their journeys.
Mrs. Russel is an office administrator. She has worked in the education field for over 40 years. She graduated Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, where she earned her license to become a school police officer, and served in that capacity for 30 years before retiring. She also graduated from Ivy Tech, where she received a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for Early Childhood Development. After obtaining that certification, she then became the owner of Kid Stop Learning Safe Haven. She owned and operated that facility for over 12 years.
Mr. Jarvis is a 25 year old graduate from Albany State University, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Performances. During his college years, he participated in track and field as a relay sprinter. He has won multiple awards from his track and field performance, such as a SIAC Conference Championship in 2017, and he is a two time 4x100m relay SIAC Champion. Mr. Jarvis plans on working with children from 5 - 18 as a Physical Education teacher and also as a track sprint coach. Something interesting about Mr. Jarvis is that he is training for a chance to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Ms. Julia is currently a junior at GGC where she plans to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Julia is currently a lead teacher at Camp Success Academy and has proven herself to be a trendsetter in the field of education. In addition to being a phenomenal after-school and summer camp instructor, she recently started a program within Camp Success entitled, "Girl Talk". This program meets each Wednesday, and enables girls in grades 3-5 to have a safe space to talk about all things, "girl". Members of Girl Talk are required to complete weekly challenges, journal entries, community service hours, and much more! Ms. Julia is also the founder of Project Proverbs, a non profit organization dedicated to giving back to her community/ She is also the owner of Ju-Ju Beads, a custom made jewelry business.
Mrs. Knowles graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University, where she majored in Psychology and Human Relations. She lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband and currently works as a clinic worker at a local Gwinnett County school. She has served as a childcare provider, a child care accountant, daycare owner, long-term substitute teacher, and foster parent. She has also been a Christian counselor for over 10 years. Mrs. Knowles dedication to the field of education is evident everyday she walks through the door. Her willingness to do what it takes to get the job done sets her apart from most!
